Salary is a big factor to consider when applying for jobs.

Of course, it's just one of many: from location to company culture and opportunities for training and progression. But it's good to know which industries, and specifically, which companies, are likely to leave you best off.

Glassdoor has released a list of the 10 companies in the UK that pay their employees the most. They assessed companies' total compensation packages - including base salary, commission, tips and bonuses awarded at each workplace.

Though the majority of the companies listed aren't British, they all employ UK workers. And, perhaps unsurprisingly, the top 10 is dominated by Tech, Finance and Consulting companies - with no other industry getting a look-in.

Glassdoor's Chief Economist, Dr. Andrew Chamberlain, said of the results: "This report shows that the big guns in tech and finance still dominate when it comes to large salaries in the UK. Companies like Salesforce, Facebook and SAP are all fighting for the best talent and they are prepared to pay top money to get it".
