Want to work in tech? Here's 5 things to know about the industry

Amy O'Neill

The technology industry is rapidly growing, and it's projected to continue doing so in the years to come.

This makes it an appealing field to work in, but also means that competition is fierce. In order to set yourself apart from the rest and land your dream job, you need to be knowledgeable about the industry as a whole. In this article, we're giving you a comprehensive overview of everything you need to know about tech...

1. It's not just for Technology grads

If you're a grad looking to work in tech, it's likely that you have the prerequisite qualifications. But what if you don't? Luckily for those of us who didn't major in Computer Science or a related field, there are other options available!

You might be surprised to learn that many successful technologists do not have engineering degrees. So don't let that stop you from pursuing your dream job - there are plenty of other avenues to enter the tech industry, such as through coding boot camps or online courses.

2. The industry is growing at a rapid pace

One of the main reasons why people are drawn to work in tech is because of the fast-paced growth. The industry is growing at a rate of about 12.78% annually, which means there are plenty of opportunities for those seeking employment in this field!

If you're looking to get hired by one of these companies or start your own business as an entrepreneur then now might be the time to do so, because they're hiring more people than ever before. Plus, they're also paying competitive salaries with benefits like health insurance and paid vacation days off work!

3. You can do it remotely

A lot of people think working in tech means having to commute or move to a big city where the companies are located. But did you know that most jobs don't require you to be physically present? In fact, many tech jobs can be done remotely!

This is great news for those of us who want to work in the industry but don't want to leave our current location or relocate. It also means that you can take on projects from anywhere in the world.

4. There are a variety of jobs to choose from

When you think of the tech industry, the first thing that comes to mind is probably software engineering or coding. But there are actually many different types of jobs available in this field!

For example, if you're interested in design, you could pursue a career as a web designer or UI/UX developer. If you're interested in writing and marketing, then becoming a content writer might be the right path for you! There are also jobs such as product management where your job would involve managing teams and projects from start to finish; this requires extensive knowledge about all aspects of technology so that one can make informed decisions on behalf of their company or clients.

5. You don't need to be an expert right away, but it helps!

A lot of people think that they need to know everything about tech before getting hired by a tech company. While having some knowledge might make you more attractive as an applicant, there's no such thing as being too prepared!

This means doing your research before applying for jobs and making sure you understand what each job entails; this will help you decide if it's something that interests you or not. If so, then go ahead with applying! But remember: even if someone else gets hired instead of yourself doesn't mean there aren't other opportunities out there waiting for you!
