St Andrews has been named UK University of the Year by the Good University Guide.

The guide, published by The Times and Sunday Times, awards the prestigious prize annually; this is St Andrews' second win and makes them the only Scottish university to have won the award.

According to the guide, the reason behind St Andrews' win is "a combination of 600 years of tradition and excellence with progressive thinking and innovation". The university is also almost the only highly selective university that's living up to students' expectations - it topped both measures of student satisfaction, which included teaching quality and overall student experience.

St Andrews isn't the only Scottish university to perform well in the 2020 rankings - the University of Dundee wins University of the Year for Student Experience and the University of Stirling takes Sports University of the Year.
