There are currently plenty of employers searching for grads with proven "business acumen" and a willingness to succeed.

It's therefore not hard to see why a Business degree is one of the best you can have: it equips you with a heap of transferable skills and a commercial understanding that makes you an ideal trainee for any organisation.

But, if you do have that illustrious Business degree, how do you know which job is right for you?

Below, you’ll find the stories of five grads who took a degree in this area and are now working in roles they love. The good news for you? All of their teams are on the hunt for similar grads right now.

You may as well take a look; you know they have a track-record of hiring people with your degree, after all.

1. San, Business Management graduate from the University of Kent

Now an Associate Director at Harvey Nash in London

San joined Harvey Nash straight after leaving Canterbury in 2004. Since then, he’s soared up through the ranks and now sits as an Associate Director in their London office. He not only appreciates the incredible incentives the Recruitment giants offer – such as free food and trips to Vegas – but also the fact he’s been able to work overseas too:

“With over 41+ offices across different continents, there’s always the opportunity, when there’s a promotion or a new opening, [for us to] apply,” he observed. “I've gone to the likes of Poland, Vietnam, Chicago and New York to work... It's something that not every company can offer.”

If you’re looking to break into Recruitment, you’d struggle to find a better place to start than this international team. Based in the iconic Heron Tower in the City, you’ll help to find talent for high profile clients as their Trainee Recruitment Consultant, as well as benefiting from a salary of £20,000 plus commission and high-level training.

2. Emma, Business and International Management graduate from Northumbria University

Now a Recruitment Consultant at Maxxima in London

Finishing her studies early Summer 2016, Emma started working at Maxxima in June, before she had even graduated, having secured a position with them in February. This achievement was the result of a long-held ambition to work in London, as well as within the Recruitment industry:

“I knew I wanted to do Recruitment – I had friends and family in it and I always thought it would be a good option for me,” she told us.

The reality of working in the field has lived up to all her expectations, thanks to Maxxima’s great culture:

“It’s a chilled-out office, we’re all allowed to work when we want… and everyone is really supportive and gets on really well.”

Now, you can get in on the fun too. The agency, with an inherent moral code, helps to place professionals in worthwhile positions across Health and Social Care both here in the UK and overseas. As their Trainee Consultant, you’ll undertake a 12-week on-boarding programme to build your skills and confidence, before taking on a 360 role, working with clients and candidates alike.

3. Alex, Business and Management graduate from the University of Exeter

Now a Trainee Investment Manager at Smith and Williamson in London

Alex was drawn to Smith and Williamson back in 2015 for three reasons: their fantastic reputation, the breadth of opportunity they offer and the assistance their trainees receive while studying for exams. However, after working there for a short time, he discovered additional benefits that he didn’t expect.

“My favourite bit about working here is the work-life balance; you’re actively encouraged to pursue social activities outside of the firm,” he said. “Things like the Smith and Williamson cricket team, which I’ve been able to partake in, has been really fantastic.”

Find out for yourself just how good life at Smith and Williamson is; the award-winning Financial Services firm is looking for their next Business Tax Trainee. The three-year scheme will see you help organisations with their affairs, while being supported to achieve your own aspirations and gain professional qualifications.

4. Jack, Spanish, Economics and Business graduate from the University of Durham

Now a PPC Analyst at NMPi in London

After uni, Jack wanted a career that would challenge him – one that was fast-paced, exciting and constantly developing. However, it was the opportunities available that really attracted him to the dynamic Digital Marketing team, NMPi:

“The progression here is based on merit, not purely on your age or how long you've been working here,” he stated. “[But] I have to say my favourite thing about working here is the sheer variety: within an hour I can go from working on a clothing brand to a software company,” he added.

Follow in Jack’s footsteps by applying to be their Graduate Account Executive and you'll run online campaigns for well-known brands, while earning £22,000 for your efforts. You’ll also receive the support you need to grow your knowledge of digital advertising and progress quickly into leadership.
