The 10 Worst Bosses Ever

You've probably spent a fair bit of time complaining about something someone above you has done - or at least wishing they went about things a little differently. But the chances are that despite all they put you through they won't be as brutal, unforgiving, unappreciative, inappropriate or down right horrible as the following bossses.

1. Gordan Gekko - Wall Street

With catchphrases like "Greed is good" and "lunch is for wimps", working on Wall Street would be stressful enough without dealing with a boss like this.

2. Miranda Priestly - The Devil Wears Prada

Endless and ridiculous demands with no appreciation or recognition - you may think this sounds familiar, but no boss on earth (except perhaps a certain Vogue editor) could be as bad as Meryl's character in The Devil Wears Prada.

3. Mr Burns - The Simpsons

Setting the hounds on you, dropping you down a shoot whenever you ask for something, having no concern for the safety of his employees - all in a hard day's work for boss Mr. Burns.

4. Darth Vadar - Star Wars

Despite what you may think, murder is probably one of the worst things your boss could do to you. If under this guy's reign, don't dare to speak your mind, make any suggestions whatsoever or fail to meet your targets - particularly that last one. You will be killed via strangling.

5. Ebenezer Scrooge - A Christmas Carol

Christmas? What's that? Get back to work! Don't expect to be paid well either. Mr. Scrooge is a fine example of a grumpy, old and stingy boss, unwilling to offer his employees any flexibility or financial recognition for their hard work.

6. Mr. Krabs - Spongebob Squarepants

Similarly to Mr. Scrooge, Mr. Krabs is as tight-fisted as they come. The worst thing about Eugene Krabs, however, is that his stinginess not only affects you, but the business - which will ultimately affect you even more.

7. Bill Lumbergh - Office Space

The boss that tries to be cool and friendly but ends up being even worse than any of the above. Offering Hawaiian shirt days or dress-down Fridays doesn't make up for accusing people of "wasting company time" and bombarding them with extra work.

8. Franklin Hart - Nine To Five

The sexist boss that makes inappropriate remarks a daily certainty. Here, the work itself is not your main concern, but the suggestions thrown at you by those in charge. Have you ever referred to your boss as a "sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot"?

9. Buddy Ackerman - Swimming With Sharks

Nothing inspires employees more than hearing touching sentiments such as, "You are nothing! If you were in my toilet I wouldn't bother flushing it. My bathmat means more to me than you!" - I think we can all be thankful we don't have a boss like this.

10. Margaret Tate - The Proposal

Whether you want to marry Sandra Bullock or Ryan Reynolds is irrelevant; being forced to wed your boss to prevent their deportation is overstepping the terms of contract just a little bit...

If it all gets too much here's how to resign
