11 Successful Entrepreneurs In Their 20s

As young job seekers we're all told at some point that we need more experience - sometimes years' worth. But who said only the old and wise know how to make it big?

The innovators are getting younger each year. Twenty is the new fifty in modern business. It seems if you want to make your first million, you better hurry before the clock turns 30. Below are 11 very successful and very rich entrepreneurs who are still in their prime.

1. Daniel Ek - 28

Daniel is the co-founder and CEO of Spotify, a business that is estimated to be worth around $1.1billion. He started his first company at 14 and was previously the CEO of uTorrent.

2. Susan Gregg-Koger - 25

Susan is the co-founder of ModCloth, a vintage and indie clothing website. She started and managed the site while still at university, and it is now worth over $15m.

3. David Karp - 27

David is the founder and CEO of Tumblr. He created the blogging site when 24 and now has an estimated net worth of $200m.

4. Catherine Cook - 20

Catherine was a co-founder of MyYearBook.com, now known as MeetMe, a social networking service. It was conjured up over spring break and is now worth approximately $30m.

5. Matthew Mullenweg - 29

Matthew co-created WordPress, the blogging site platform, at the age of 19. He is now worth an estimated $250m.

6. Carly Ward - 23

Carly found success at the age of 19 when she launched the Young Entrepreneur Society. Uniquely, it teaches other young people how to be successful, too. In 2011, Carly was voted Inspirational Women in Business.

7. Kevin Systrom & Mike Krieger - 27 & 25

These two guys are the creators of Instagram. They framed, blurred and filtered their way to success and are now worth a combined $100m.

8. Sean Belnick - 22

Sean started his office furniture company at the age of 14. He now sells office chairs to the likes of Google and Microsoft and is worth an estimated $50m.

9. Pete Cashmore - 28

Pete is founder and CEO of the popular blog, Mashable. He founded the site in Aberdeen at the age of 19 and it is now worth approximately $70m.

10. Dustin Moskovitz - 29

Dustin was a co-founder of Facebook, but has since left to co-found Asana. He was one of the world's youngest self-made billionaires, worth a staggering $3.8b.

11. Mark Zuckerberg - 29

We couldn't have a list of rich young people without this guy. Infamous co-founder and now chairman and chief executive of Facebook, Mark made his first billion at the age of 23. He is now worth a mind-blowing $16.8b.

As well as the above prodigies, many famous entrepreneurs founded their businesses while still in their 20s, including the guys behind Google, Apple and Microsoft. They may have lacked experience, but they made up for it with passion, determination and a good idea - and look at them now! Just tell that to the next employer who turns you down for being too inexperienced.
