As a Public Sector Sales Executive you’ll be targeted on securing new business within Public Sector organisations across the UK, selling IT solutions on behalf of our partners (Microsoft, HPE, Cisco, Dell to name a few). The role is a balancing act, ensuring you provide top class customer service as well as achieving your financial objectives. As you become established in the role you’ll inevitably spend less time on building new business and instead focus on really enhancing those existing relationships you’ve built, selling more products into less clients. It truly feels like running your own business, where you get to control how much you earn and how you want to develop.

You will begin your career on our Public Sector Development Programme. This is a dedicated training programme designed to get you up to speed on exactly how to sell to Public Sector organisations. You will initially be selling to our Schools and Colleges accounts whilst you learn the ropes and when you are ready (6-18 months dependant on achievement) you will join one a vertical team of your choice (Higher Education, Local Government, Police, MOD, Healthcare etc). Here you will begin managing fewer and larger accounts and become an expert in your area!

The majority of our graduates join the Softcat sales team – we have a great record of turning raw potential into rapid success. You don’t need a techie background to work in IT sales, it’s personality that matters.

If you thrive in sales, you could be earning big in just three years. On average, new sales employees can expect to earn £25k-£30k OTE in year one, £40k in year two and £50-£60k in year three. There’s uncapped commission, so our top performers make six figures.
