What you will be doing

We are currently looking for an Associate Researcher to join our growing team – focusing specifically on appointments in the Higher Education sector. The Higher Education team works with both public and private universities and colleges, across the globe, supporting them across all academic and administrative activity. This ranges from Provost, Director and Dean appointments, through to working at departmental level to support the appointment of faculty.

We seek to appoint truly worldclass researchers who understand every element of their trade in exquisite detail, who possess genuine flair and creativity in how they approach research, and who can execute the process elements of even the trickiest assignments with clinical precision.

As a member of Society’s Research Team, you will be responsible for identifying, contacting and engaging with talented and impressive senior people around the world. We will train you to carry out comprehensive and creative desk-based research in order to identify potentially suitable candidates. You will get to speak to these exciting people and secure their interest in market leading positions. As you develop more experience, you will begin to take personal responsibility for the trickiest and most high-profile assignments. The role also involves a significant element of project management, including overseeing the preparation of key client reports. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Headhunting  
  • You will develop and manage a coherent research strategy for each assignment
  • You will carry out comprehensive and creative desk-based research to identify potentially suitable candidates
  • You will advocate roles over the telephone on behalf of our clients in order to secure interest from strong candidates
  • You will assess the suitability of candidates through initial telephone interviews
    You will attend candidate interviews where appropriate
    You will deliver research projects to a high standard and to agreed deadlines
    You will maintain relationships with key candidates around the world
    You will handle reference calls and conduct regular updates with the client where required
    Relationship and Project Management  
    You will attend client briefings and Candidate Review Meetings
    You will produce high quality client documentation including Proposals, Candidate Packs and Candidate Review Documents
    You will advise on the drafting of candidate information packs and public advertisements
    You will book media space on behalf of clients and negotiating rates where appropriate
    You will enhance team performance through effective knowledge management
    You will help to raise the profile and reputation of the firm

    You have fluency in a second language would be ideal
    You have the potential to progress and grow into additional responsibilities over time
    You have some prior recruitment experience would be highly desirable but is not essential

Investing in graduates

Our structured training programme for new grads allows them to learn the key techniques and processes to be an effective headhunter while taking on responsibility at an early stage. We also give grads an annual volunteering entitlement to support a community project of their choice.

Looking forward, we have big plans for Society’s future. We already have an office in New York, which one of our Researchers helped to set up during a three month secondment.
