What you will be doing

Police Now recruits and trains outstanding graduates, so they can help transform society as neighbourhood police officers. We believe that policing is crucial in supporting some of the most vulnerable communities across England and Wales.

Not only do police officers tackle crime, they care for the communities; working with residents, stakeholders, charities and institutions to make a safe and thriving area to live and work in. In order to achieve this, our police force must be diverse, in both thought and background to be reflective of the communities we serve.

Society needs talented neighbourhood police officers as diverse as the communities they serve. The challenge is unique. The environment is fast paced. Make a positive impact on society by improving the lives of the most vulnerable and develop leadership skills for life.

Not only will you be a fully warranted and attested neighbourhood police officer on our National Graduate Leadership Programme, you will be developing vital skills in negotiation, problem-solving and decision-making. You will be emotionally intelligent, resilient and a leader. Every day you will be preventing criminals targeting the vulnerable and you’ll contribute to the increase in the public’s confidence in policing.

• Bedfordshire Police

• Cambridgeshire Constabulary

What you will have

We don’t require you to have any previous policing knowledge or experience, only a willingness to learn and make a difference. Your journey will start prior to our Summer Academy by completing your core learning of legislation and ethics, which you will use throughout the six-week intensive training and beyond.

You will be allocated a Police Now Leadership Development Officer who will support your progression throughout the two years. You will have regular opportunities to present the impact you have made in your community to policing colleagues and corporate partners.

Are you ready to lead change so that even the most vulnerable can thrive? You’ll be there: to act, when action is needed; protect, when protection is required; drive change, when change is necessary. We believe in change. We believe in you to change the story.

If you want to be a leader who improves the lives of those around you, apply for Police Now’s National Graduate Leadership Programme today and develop skills for life.

What comes next?

When applying for the Police Now National Graduate Leadership Programme you will select your preferred force as well as any that you are also interested in joining. We receive a large number of applications, so we advise you to complete your application as soon as you feel ready. Each partner force will be filled on a first come first served basis which may be before the overall programme closing date.

Our recruitment process requires you to complete an application form and online assessment, followed by attending an assessment centre, after which you will be offered a conditional place on the programme. Upon accepting your offer, you will start the vetting and pre-employment check process, which will include a fitness and medical. Alongside this you will be invited to one of our induction events so you can start to get to know your fellow participants, as well as attending an induction event with your force. Following successful pre-employment checks, including having confirmation of your degree result, you will then start your six-week residential Summer Academy.

Throughout the recruitment and on-boarding process you’ll be working with a dedicated Graduate Recruitment Officer who will be there to support you every step of the way.

You'll Be There

01:00

Our National Graduate Leadership Programme offers you a career opportunity like no other:

You are able to develop leadership skills in a unique environment while making a real and lasting difference to vulnerable communities that are impacted by crime.

Throughout the two-year programme, you’ll be a visible leader in your community. You’ll develop skills in negotiation, problem solving, decision-making, and emotional intelligence as a neighbourhood police officer. At the end of the two years, you will have a number of options inside policing available to you. You’ll be able to continue in a neighbourhood policing role, as well as seek promotion if you feel you have the confidence and skills to do so. You may also choose to leave policing to use the skills and experience you’ve developed in a different role or sector.

Since 2015, we have recruited, trained and developed over 1,000 police officers, posting them in neighbourhood roles in some of the country’s most deprived communities. Our highly competent graduates play an important role in supporting the nation’s police in their efforts to increase the number of officers across England and Wales, and to drive results.

You’ll be there: to act, when action is needed; protect, when protection is required; drive change, when change is necessary.
