Become an Account Manager

This is no ordinary sales job - you will have the opportunity to work on some of the UK’s biggest construction projects.

Location: Nationwide

What you will be doing

Unless you work in construction, you probably haven’t heard of us. We’re a hidden gem. We provide leading-edge tools, technologies, software and services for the professional construction sector.

Our customers are loyal and enthusiastic about us. So are our people. We regularly win Great Place to Work awards globally and have been on the Times Top 100 Best Companies to Work For list in the UK for the past 13 years.

We work to a model of professional consultative selling making this a really hands-on job. You'll be rolling up your sleeves to demonstrate some of the most pioneering products in the industry, along with all the services and after-care that come with the Hilti name.

93% of our people say they’re proud to work for Hilti, thanks to the quality of our products and the way we look after our people.

  • You will spend most of your time visiting our customers, on construction sites or in offices and warehouses so no two days are the same
  • You will manage your own time – your van is your office and you’ll be responsible for setting your own diary
  • You will have a supportive team at the other end of the phone

What you have

We have an excellent mix of people and some of our best account managers joined us with no experience. So, if you’ve never worked in sales or construction, that’s fine with us.

Success at Hilti is down to teamwork and ability, no matter what your background.

The whole process should take 90 seconds. If we like what we see, you’ll be invited to complete a short video interview. Once you’re in the formal process, there are three stages – a first interview with a Regional Manager, a day-in-the-life ‘field ride’ to give you a real feel for the job and a final interview with a Sales Director.

We’ll also pay your expenses if you have to travel to meet us. If we don’t have a suitable role for you at the moment, we will keep you in our talent pool for the future so your recruitment process might take a bit longer but we’ll be sure to stay in touch.

  • You have customer-facing experience gained in any industry (sales experience preferred but not essential), or a degree in any discipline and a desire to build a career in sales
  • You have a mature, assertive and committed approach to your career development with good communication skills
  • You have the ability to demonstrate that you're a flexible team player with a hunger to learn
  • You have the legal right to work in the UK without a visa
  • You have a full, clean, manual driving licence valid in the UK

Company benefits: Genuine career advancement • Performance bonus • 33 days holiday (inc. Bank Holidays) plus the ability to purchase 5 days more annually • Paid leave to work on charitable projects • Company vehicle in all sales role • Generous pension scheme • Private Healthcare

Onwards to our company and culture…

We are Hilti

We design and manufacture leading-edge technology, software and services, which power the professional construction industry.

What we do

Everyday our technologies support awe-inspiring feats of engineering around the world from the famous bullet train in Japan to tunnels deep under some of the largest cities on earth.

We’re a one-stop shop for building, worldwide. We create technologies, software and services, which clearly stand out from the rest. We run our own research and design labs, working with top technical universities and partners, all over the world. We make our own products in Hilti factories and with external partners, making sure all our products match the same high quality and standards.

Show us what you're made of

We regularly assess our emerging talent within the business via Development Centre to give them exposure to leaders across the organisation and to feedback into their development plans. People who join Hilti share a certain mind-set. They’re driven and hard-working, and they excel at giving their best for our customers. In return, they enjoy an incredibly varied and dynamic career. Many of our people have been with us for 20 or 30 years - testament to how much we value and reward their contribution.

We like to give back to our employees

On joining you will benefit from our award winning sales and product training, spending a minimum of 3 weeks at our cutting edge training facility. We host a kick-off event every January for 2 days in Manchester city centre, to celebrate the successes of the previous year and refocus on the year ahead. We offer an Employee assistance program, a mentor scheme, employee benefits portal and a very generous referral program.

At HQ we also have the Summer Garden party and Christmas party for you to enjoy. This is on top of pub quiz nights, sports teams, sponsored charity events including the Great Manchester Run and opportunities to volunteer time during the work day for charities such as WellChild.

Our core values are integrity, courage, teamwork and commitment.

We're committed to your career development

We have a regular and clear development process for all our people, with everyone at Hilti having a yearly development conversation. There are opportunities for further training and development (both internally and externally) to enhance your career combined with an emerging talent strategy which is used to develop our leaders of the future. This supports 80% of Hilti’s leadership positions being filled internally.

Alongside a competitive base salary all of our positions come with a bonus scheme and full benefits package which include vehicle (for all sales roles), private healthcare, life assurance, generous pension contributions, 33 days holiday (inc bank holidays), option to purchase up to an additional 5 days
