Join one of fifteen schemes across the UK and support our Government to shape decisions that have a direct impact on lives across the UK, whilst also accelerating your professional future.
On the Fast Stream, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute towards addressing some of the most pressing issues facing the UK today. With responsibility from day one, you’ll thrive in a supportive environment that offers long-term prospects.
You’ll progress your career path with your chosen government profession and benefit from a structured development programme. Support will be provided by a range of professionals whose priority is creating the right conditions for your growth and success.
There is no typical Fast Streamer. And with postings available with several government departments, there is no typical role. It’s what you make it.
On every scheme, you’ll benefit from structured development, high-quality training and flexible working to ensure work-life balance. We’re changing along with British society, to better reflect the communities we serve and the Fast Stream community includes people of all ages, cultures and backgrounds. The Fast Stream has no upper age limit. Most of the schemes are open to graduates with 2:2, as well as first and 2.1 degrees.
We support applicants with health conditions, learning difficulties and disabilities, with their applications and through their Civil Service careers. We operate a Guaranteed Interview Scheme. If you have a disability and meet the minimum qualifying criteria for your chosen scheme, you may choose to skip part of the first stage of the assessment process.
So, whether you are looking for your first graduate role, seeking to return to work, or change profession, the Fast Stream is the ideal place to progress a meaningful, fulfilling career.
Applications close at noon on Thursday 25 October.
Helping the Government of the day keep everyone in Britain and beyond happy, healthy and safe.
Assisting with the development and execution of Government policies, some of the important work we do includes: shaping healthcare; collecting the money that pays for public services; ensuring we have secure, clean and affordable energy; leading global work to end poverty and providing aid during humanitarian emergencies.
There’s no such thing as a typical Civil Servant. We work in just about every town and city in Britain, and come from every background you can think of. With us, the things that make you unique will be respected and celebrated.
We do it all, which means we offer a wide range of career paths and experiences. No matter what your interests are, we’ll have a scheme to suit you.
We are driven to transform the brightest graduates into effective and inspiring leaders at the heart of the political process.
Working in the Civil Service is a unique development opportunity.
Of course there will be times when you are busy, but we will always give you the freedom to work flexibly and fit work in around your life. There will be plenty of social trips to enjoy too.
You can expect incredible support and training, as well as a career offering plenty of variety and opportunities. Plus, you'll join a strong cohort of other grads, all learning and developing at the same time as you. This means a guaranteed support network – professional and social - to help you settle in quickly.
My day-to-day job is trying to make the government as efficient as possible at what it does.
