This Masters by Research is a collaborative project between Lancaster University and The Miles Consultancy.

What you will be doing
The vehicle market is changing at an unprecedented rate with new technologies, such as electric and hybrid vehicles, legislations and Government policy being introduced at a level that companies and business drivers are unable to keep up with.
The University of Lancaster's Centre for Global Eco-Innovation are looking for the new generation of great minds to join them and complete a Masters.
You will also work with leading fuel management specialists, The Miles Consultancy (TMC), gaining access to a unique data set in a field that is at the forefront of Central Governments thinking.
Within this Masters by Research project you will build upon research conducted by TMC and reported in the BBC to identify the real-world efficiency of vehicles by matching the right technologies to the type and duration of journeys being made by individual drivers. Delivering real-world financial and environmental benefits, such as reduced vehicle emissions reductions and improved air quality.
This project may also provide you with the opportunity to develop policy recommendations for government plans related to the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test (WLTP) and the Road to Zero strategy aiming for at least half of new cars to be ultra-low emission by 2030.
You will be part of the multi award winning Centre for Global Eco-Innovation with a cohort of 50 talented graduates working on exciting business-led R&D
You will gain your Masters from a Top Ten University, recognised as The Sunday Times University of the Year 2018
You will work at a multi-award winning fuel management specialist. TMC deliver visibility; control and cost savings across a company’s vehicle fleet by consolidating, analysing and auditing mileage, fuel and fleet data
You will finish in a strong position to enter a competitive job market in the UK and overseas
What you will have
We are looking for graduates who will be able to begin this project in either April or October 2019.
You have a 2:1 degree or above in a related discipline
You have a desire to complete a Masters
You have an interest in vehicles and the environment
You are willing to study and work for a year

The Centre for Global Eco-Innovation at Lancaster University has over 60 live PhD and Masters research projects, all linked with external partners. This cohort has regular socials, residential events and informal meetings to create a social and supportive working atmosphere. Through this peer network, researchers can find support and advice when challenges are faced.
Previous researchers have gone onto a variety of successful positions. Some of these are at Lancaster University and other research institutions, others are with their partner organisations. Some are now in the commercial world working with exciting businesses, helping to develop new technologies and concepts.
