Become a Graduate Test Development Engineer

Gain experience and learn skills to be able to design and develop Automatic Test Equipment solutions of the highest quality.

Location: Blisworth, Northampton

What you will be doing

To gain experience and learn skills to be able to independently design and develop Automatic Test Equipment solutions to the highest quality. This will involve learning both hardware and software skills to enable you to:

  • You will design and develop electronic test applications for functional test
  • You will prepare and develop product test specifications and procedures in-line with customer’s requirements
  • You will develop test programmes using languages such as LabVIEW and TestStand
  • You will define the test approach and document the project scope for each assignment
  • You will commission test applications on site at customer premises around the world
  • You will ensure that procurement, design, development, test and implementation are within project scope and budget
  • You will support the preparation of project proposals and specifications for external bids

What you will have

You will ideally be degree qualified in Electronic Engineering, or a related subject. HNC/D in Electronic Engineering may be considered, as well as relevant experience. A-Levels (or equivalent) in at least 2 of the following: Maths, Physics, Design Technology, IT, Electronics. 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 / C or above.

  • You have excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work on a variety of projects
  • You have strong planning and time management skills – able to define and meet deadlines and targets
  • You have strong verbal and written skills, and are a good communicator at all levels
  • You are a team player and contributor
  • You have a methodical approach to work, with good attention to detail
  • You are a self-starter and self-motivated
  • You are agreeable and eligible to obtain the required level of security clearance
  • You have a full UK or EU drivers licence

Some of our recent graduates

Nick joined ATE Solutions in 2015 after attaining a degree in Electronic Engineering from Birmingham City University. Nick has already worked on a large range of projects including a military power supply, smoke detectors, sub-sea telecoms, and an unmanned aircraft controller. This has allowed Nick to develop his skills in many areas such as functional testing, programming, JTAG, RF communications and fibre optics.

Georgi studied at the Technical University of Varna, Bulgaria, and the University of Patra, Greece, where he achieved his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electronics. Since joining ATE Solutions in 2017, Georgi has worked on projects such as a Traction Brake Controller, where he wrote the test software using LabView/TestStand and designed the interface electronics for communicating between the product and the test system.
