Human Resources Graduate Programme Sunderland

  • £25,000 starting salary

What you will be doing

We are looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic graduate to join our 18-month programme, which is designed to develop talented individuals into our HR leaders.

You'll join our Corporate Affairs department, which covers HR, Business Change and Communications. While your core focus will be on HR, you will also get to build your experience across these other two areas during your placements too. However, whichever team you're working within, you'll work alongside experienced leaders to gain a unique insight into Arriva and the skills you need to excel here.

Although this role is primarily based in Sunderland, our company offers opportunities across a number of locations, and it is possible that one of your placements will be based in one of the 14 European countries we operate within.

Below outlines what else you can expect from the programme:

  • You will gain exposure to HR case work
  • You will complete strategic project work, covering issues such as our employee survey, organisational design, group policy reviews and the analysis of our new HR system
  • You will work on an international project with other graduates and a supportive mentor, alongside your main assignments
  • You will attend grad events and training modules, which will increase your knowledge about our operations, strategy and business model, as well as giving you a chance to meet our senior managers and grads from other countries.

What you will have

We are looking for grads who have, or are expecting to achieve, a minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree in HR, plus hold an interest in the broader aspects of Change and Communications.

As well as this, you should be able to show the following:

  • You are nationally and internationally mobile
  • You are ambitious, with strong leadership skills
  • You are able to communicate well with people of all professional levels and cultures
  • You are willing to push yourself to meet and exceed challenging targets
  • You are forward-thinking in your approach to work
  • You are results driven, with the ability to innovate to simplify and improve current processes and practices
  • You are confident when making big decisions.
