RWE Supply & Trading is a leading European energy-trading company and one of the major players on the global gas-trading market. With our many years of experience and a sharp eye for market developments and trends, we have been representing the RWE Group on the global wholesale markets for energy and energy-related raw materials and services for over 20 years.
Who we are
RWE Supply & Trading is the interface between RWE and energy markets around the world. A total of 1,600 employees from 40 different countries are engaged in the trade of electricity, gas, commodities and carbon emission certificates. We are active not only in Essen, which is home to one of the world’s largest trading floors, but also in major cities like London and New York and in key growth markets – particularly in Asia, where we are represented in Singapore and China. With precise market analysis and a strong customer focus, we create innovative energy supply solutions and risk management concepts for industrial companies.
What we do
Now that all of our renewable activities are integrated within RWE, RWE Supply & Trading can increasingly offer customised products and services from a single source, such as a combination of renewables plus control energy or conventional electricity. We are also able to draw on our considerable experience in the marketing of electricity from renewables. Deutsche Bahn (German Rail), for instance, is one of the key accounts choosing to purchase “green” power from RWE Supply & Trading.
Our Graduates - Natalie Rothausen
One of the advantages for me is that you can choose your own rotations. In my opinion, this shows how much the graduates are supported in the company and that the graduate programme is appreciated. I have decided to work in Asset Controlling within RWE Generation. My first rotation was in Finance, so it was important for me to get a better insight into the operational processes of energy trading in my second rotation.
My mission to automate financial processes
During my time in Asset Controlling, I had the opportunity to work on challenging tasks. I supported the team in the preparation of various participation reports and created monthly reports along with the financial managers on the ground. My biggest accomplishment was working on the automation of financial processes by integrating new robot software.
Flexible Digital Working
The corporate culture is very open and friendly and all employees are on first-name terms, so there is no hierarchy. It’s a lot of fun working in my current team. We all work in different locations in Germany and the Netherlands and use Skype, video-conferencing and similar technologies to communicate and collaborate on a daily basis. It’s a very flexible way of working and it’s fun to work with digital technologies because they’re easy to use.
