We are MBDA

A world leader within Defence with over 10,000 employees across the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and the USA.

Our Culture - What we do

MBDA are a global leader in the design and manufacture of missiles and missile systems, competing at the forefront of the Defence industry. As the prime complex weapon contractor to the UK MOD, we have some of the best minds in industry and produce some of the most sophisticated technology in Defence.

In addition to our teams working across the UK, we also have offices in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and USA which are visited by those on our Graduate Programme.

Diversity, equality and inclusion are essential to life at MBDA: we actively promote an inclusive and healthy work environment, with an active Sports & Social club, an abundance of charity and volunteering activities organised by our Charity Challenge Team, an onsite gym at Stevenage and reduced rates at other gyms and leisure clubs nationally.

All Graduates are paired up with a 'Buddy' prior to your first day, who acts as your first point of contact to help you settle in and answer any questions you may have. The MBDA Mentoring programme also provides graduates with a Mentor matched to you depending on the specific skills you identify as wanting to improve.

Over 93% of graduates would recommend their programme to a friend and we pride this on our commitment to providing structured, supportive and engaging graduate schemes that allow you to find your passion within the organisation.

We are committed to providing continuing professional development through accredited training, set out by professional institutes, such as IMechE, IET, Institute of Physics, and the Royal Aeronautical Society, as well as a series of development events for all new graduates who join us.

You may think that as Europe's leading missile and missile systems provider, we are a very serious business to work for and we are, but we also believe in a collaborative and supportive work environment.

You can expect to receive full support from your managers, as well as access to a large number of training and development opportunities. There is a large social scene for graduates across all our sites, with many nights out and events going on.

Our people tend to join us and stay for 10, 20 or 30 years because of the endless opportunities to move and develop their career within one company. This means we have a wealth of intelligent and experienced people to learn from and our culture encourages this level of knowledge sharing.

In recognition of our commitment to our employees, we have been awarded The Sunday Times 'Top 30 Big Companies To Work For 2017' award, as well as being a long-standing winner of the annual Queens Award for Innovation.

We offer a flexi-time scheme which allows more of a say over when you work, as well as the possibility to leave at lunchtime on a Friday: not only this, you can begin Friday in your casual clothes thanks to our end of the week dress-down policy. The company also reinvests its profits, with a brand new £40million manufacturing site in Bolton, state-of-the-art laboratories in Bristol and new buildings going up right now in Stevenage.

We believe in recognising and rewarding hard work. As an organisation, MBDA holds individual and team reviews, with Reward & Recognition vouchers as a special thank you for employee commitment. We also ask our UK employees to nominate others for Business Recognition Awards, which are presented at an annual Awards Ceremony.

Internationally we ask employees to nominate teams & individuals for Innovation Awards which are presented yearly at a European Awards Event. All employees receive a share of the company bonus, which is based on the performance of the business as a whole.

We want to know that you’ve gone away and looked at what we do and how we do it.

[They] really helped me to build those technical skills from day one... [it] helped me to build my confidence in my own working ability.

Our Graduates - Who we are

Sam's Graduate Story

During my time on the graduate scheme I got to go into schools once a week to help the kids build a robot for a competition, the winners of which got to go to America.

To be able to have some control over what hours I work and to be able to build up flexi-time… is absolutely fantastic. And you get half days on Friday which is always great.

Our Future - Where we're going

Why Graduates Are Key to Our Future

Nathan, Engineer in Novel Systems Group

MBDA are Europe's leading manufacturer of complex weapons systems, with 10,000 employees across the continent and in the US. Our vision is to grow MBDA to champion Europe’s interests and to act as a global player in missile systems sector.

We produce weapons for all purposes rather than specialising: because of this, you will need a breadth of Engineering knowledge across our product. This is why we rotate you across all areas during your placements to give you the full MBDA experience.

We are looking for exceptional people that want to rise to the challenge to deliver Engineering excellence. In return, you’ll get the chance to learn from experts throughout the organisation, progress your career in the way that you want and benefit from flexible-working hours.

During the grad scheme, graduates are moved between projects and areas, gaining knowledge and transferring it to other areas and other challenges as previous grads have done before them.

Graduates will have key responsibilities in the company - within three weeks you could be working with key political figures on matters of state.
